Two Fine Wooden Flutes. Bamileke Culture, Cameroon

These two fine flutes, which come from two different private European collections but possibly from the same hand, exhibit a wonderful interplay of two abstract human figures. Hung around the neck by strands of leather and used to play in ceremonies by musicians and traditional hunters.

Left: Ex Jan Lundberg Collection Sweden

Right: Ex Private Collection Belgium

Estimated Period: First Half of 20th Century (1930’s)
