These early baskets consist of a coiled and double-weaved construction. Each basket features an attractive zigzag and stepped design.
Finely woven grass fibre prestige baskets such as these were kept by Tutsi families as representations of wealth.
The baskets vary in age, from approximately 1930's for the small and medium-sized baskets to 1960's for the largest of the three baskets.
