Beaded baskets like this were traditionally kept by the Tutsi culture as a symbol of wealth.
The beads used to decorate this small basket all date to early last century with the basket itself dating to around 1930’s.
Beaded baskets like this followed on from the tradition of making small baskets purely out of fine grass strands.
