Very narrow strips of animal hide have been sewn together to create the composition of this attractive and rare Iraqw ceremonial skirt.
The upper band, which would have been tied around the waist, is decorated with white, red and turquoise blue beads.
Multiple strands of leather tassels, adorned with glass beads, cowrie shells and white metal attachments, are attached to the waistband with buttons.
