15. Woman’s Head Adornment. Mursi Culture, Omo Valley, Ethiopia

This ceremonial head adornment, featuring a prominent pair of curved boar tusks, would have been worn by the Mursi who inhabited the Omo Valley region of southern Ethiopia. The strapping, made from plaited animal hide, is adorned with large brass and aluminium rings. The head adornment would have been worn as a symbol of wealth and prestige.
