The long, raised 'spiked' forms of this fine and rare bronze bracelet represent abstract horns of a buffalo. Embodying the spirit of the buffalo - an animal that holds cultural significance among the Bobo and many other cultures from this vast region - it was believed that this adornment would have protected the wearer, by warding off malevolent spirits.
