This Yoruba shrine figure stands in a powerful upright stance with squared shoulders and a slightly upturned head, adorned with a finely carved coiffure. Two fetish holes are located on the figure’s stomach and mouth. The figure stands with slightly bent knees, carrying a ceremonial wand in one hand. In warmer temperatures the figure will sweat, exhibiting a deep, oily patina (as shown in the photographs).
The figure, carved from a light wood, has developed an encrusted layered surface patina over time.
