With a pair of inserted metal eyes, this fine Yoruba ibeji is depicted standing in an upright position. Crowning the figure's head is a carved double-ridged coiffure - a defining characteristic of the piece.
The coiffure bears traces of Reckitt's Blue, and, over time, the surface of the figure has developed a worn patina. Adorning the body of the ibeji are strands of early glass beads, metal bangles and cowrie shells.
