It is unusual to find Borana chairs. The backrest of this nineteenth-century Borana chair features three cut-out geometric designs, including two elliptical, 'leaf-shaped' forms. The decorative arrangement on the backrest, consisting of two leaf-shaped motifs and a rectangular opening, is nicely echoed on each leg of the chair. Further adornment is provided to the chair, which is in good overall condition, by the inclusion of carved rows of zig-zags along the rim of the seat, the edge of the backrest and the rear of the chair.
