This fine large double bowl from the Lozi people was traditionally used to serve and store food. Two finely carved ducks decorate the lid of the bowl. The bowl’s base is carved from a single piece of wood. Animals depicted on bowls made by the Lozi people were often species that could be found inhabiting the shores of the Zambezi River.
