This fine early door lock has the unusual feature of being surmounted with two beautifully carved bird heads. The wings of each bird is positioned half way up each neck.
Abstract representations of breasts of fertility are represented under each bird. The body of the door lock is finely decorated with a series of crisscross decorations. The cross hatch section of the lock is also decorated with similar designs. The surface of the lock has a worn patina from handling and use.
