A visible expression of title and prestige, this ceremonial headdress is attractively embellished with white glass beads configured in patterns of interlocking geometric shapes, which extends at the back of the wearer's head. A border of cowrie shells runs along the lower perimeter of the hat, following the shape of the ear flaps on either side. Above a band of cowrie shells and raffia fibre, a protruding circular feature of cloth decorated with beaded geometric designs and cowrie shells crowns the headdress.
