This nineteenth-century Ethiopian headrest has been carved into an unusual, phallic form, with a small lozenge-shaped openwork design featured on the central column. A series of incised bands follow the curved shape of the central support, and a zig-zag motif decorates one side. The surface of the headrest exhibits a beautiful, warm patina.
