This Dinka headrest has been carved from a tree branch into a zoomorphic form, consisting of three supporting legs and two protruding 'heads' on either side. A cow-udder shaped feature is located underneath each 'head', referencing the close spiritual connection between the Dinka and cattle. A woven leather strap has been connected to each end of the headrest, and throughout, the surface of the piece exhibits a beautiful deep worn patina.
