HEADREST WITH ATTACHED SNUFF CONTAINER

Headrest. Hamer or Hor Cultures, Southern Ethiopia.

This low-set headrest has been carved into a zoomorphic shape, and features fine decorations on the seat and legs. A snuff container/tobacco pouch has been attached, and when held by the central horizontal wooden grip, the headrest would have also acted as a hand shield.

Estimated Period: Second Half of 20th Century.

H: 10cm
