Made from buffalo hide in an attractive leaf shape and supported at the rear by a pole that acts both as a handle and a upright support. The pole typically threads through the hide which is a common characteristic in Nilotic shields, this is only achievable when the hide is wet and soft. This shield has a wonderful form with a large ridge at the centre of the shield where the shield would have been held at the rear.
