This rare snuff container is similar in shape to a small gourd, and consists of three sections, which have been exquisitely carved out of horn. The container has a unique feature - in the place of a stopper, a thin top, delicately handcrafted from horn, screws onto the base of the container. The taking of snuff was widespread throughout southern and eastern Africa, and carefully carved snuff spoons and snuff boxes were often treasured personal possessions among both men and women.
Comes with custom-made display stand.
