The seat of this very large and rare Bamileke royal stool is supported by a group of six beautifully carved buffalo. Along with the elephant, leopard, lion, and python, the buffalo is a royal symbol, usually reserved for the Fon (the King). Each buffalo is adorned with circular decorations.
This stool, carved from a single piece of wood, exhibits a wonderful, lusty patina.
