This fine Sukuma mask displays a powerful expression, with a prominent pointed nose, an angular, pronounced jaw, rectangular-shaped mouth and unusual double-lidded eyes with raised eyebrows. The mask has been carved from a brown dense wood, and has been decorated in parts with red pigment.
