Finely Decorated Calabash Snuff Container. Southern Africa or Botswana
This snuff container is the epitome of a personal object. The container fits into the palm of your hand, and is adorned with finely engraved dot decorations and images which exhibit an extraordinary attention to detail. As you turn the container around in your hand, you’ll be able to see figures holding rifles, antelope, wildebeest, birds, a crocodile, camel, bush rabbit and a small group of leopards. A tiny plastic stopper is affixed to the head of the gourd.
