This small cast Benin bronze depicts the head of an oba or king, with large, oval-shaped eyes. Wearing an spiralling adornment around his neck, the man raises his head upwards, and slightly to the side. Crowning his head is an intricately cast headdress, with a central feature pointing towards the sky.
Imperfections present in the bronze head point to its age, and suggest that this piece is an early casting.
