This well-balanced small high-back chair has been typically carved from a single piece of wood, and consists of three curved supporting legs with upright stilts. Originating from the Wollega region of western Ethiopia, this chair features a cross-hatched design on the backrest - a characteristic of chairs from this area of the country.
Throughout Ethiopia, high-back chairs traditionally served as symbols of family wealth and title.
