This mask, with a pair of square-shaped eyes and prominent hooded neck, displays a powerful, primal expression – an expression typically found among masks from this region of Tanzania. The mask bares a set of teeth made from inserted metal, and emblazoned on each cheek are two cross-shaped facial markings.
Red and black pigments decorate the surface of the mask, which, over time, have become faded and worn.
