This prestige hat (iyol), made from woven raffia fibre in a coiled weave composition, would have been worn by a titled Kuba soldier.
Stylistically, the hat relates to the basic laket form, but is more coarsely sewn with larger ‘ears’ that are trimmed with four prominent rounded raffia fibre tufts.
