Woman’s Necklace

Southern Africa

Rare Woman’s Necklace. Tsonga, Southern Africa

This necklace, thought to come from the Tsonga culture of Southern Africa, has been made from multiple sections of dark hardwood and small blue glass beads.

After extensive research, the only other published example we can find is a very similar example in composition, with the same blue glass beads, that is published in The World of Necklaces by Collette Ghysels (p.157).

Ex Private Collection, UK

Estimated Period: First Half of 20th Century
