Surmounting this fine Kamba chieftain's staff is the figure of a First World War colonial askari with a pair of large ears - a feature typically found in early Kamba figurative sculpture. The soldier has a pair of inset aluminium eyes, and stands in an upright position, with his arms placed by his side. Throughout, the surface of the staff exhibits a deep glossy patina.
