Kuranko Anthropomorphic Mask, Sierra Leone/Guinea (Ex Romy Rey Collection)

£2200

Anthropomorphic Mask. Poro Society, Kuranko Culture, Sierra Leone and Guinea

The wonderfully abstract appearance of this fine anthropomorphic Poro Society mask from the Kuranko culture portrays the bush spirit. The mask features iron attachments which give the mask a magical charge. It also exhibits an encrusted and very eroded surface patina as seen in the photos.
