This piece was originally cast as a long rod and then heated, twisted and forged into shape with the ends coiled and resting on top of each other. The result is a wonderful form, which has been made even more attractive by the fine incised decorations adorning its surface. It is thought that this piece was more likely created as a currency for trade, but it is possible that it was also worn as an adornment.
