An early Sukuma figure with a powerful stance. This figure was likely either used as a dance figure, a form of protective guardian figure for the village or crops, or, as is often the case with such figures in the Sukuma culture, both of these functions. The figure was once decorated with natural pigments which have now faded and errored with esposure and time.
