Carved from a very dense hard wood, the title stool features to its front a carved in profile stylised mask with typical Chokwe features. At its rear is a handle decorated with a finely carved small face. The central cylinder shaped body of the stool has been decorated with a series of circle dots, this design feature can also be seen on the surface of the flat seat. The stool shows good signs of age reflecting a period of creation and use to the 1st half of the 20th Century, likely circa 1930's.
