A fine Mangbetu Negbe with an attractive geometric design, created from contrasting layers of dark and light bark fibre. Attached to the reverse is a finely woven multi strand raffia fibre belt, a rare feature for this type of prestigious buttock ornament.
The Negbe was an important symbol of wealth and prestige and was worn only on ceremonial occasions.
