Miniature figures such as this fine example were traditionally kept as protective amulets. This wonderful early casting depicts a female figure with her arms resting on her stomach in a sign of maternity and/or fertility, and her head turned slightly upwards. She stands with slightly bent legs, and features prominent breasts with a powerful jaw and protruding lips. The surface patina of the figure is rough, corroded and worn in parts from touching and handling over time.
