A fine Mangbetu Negbe with an attractive geometric design, created from contrasting layers of dark and light bark fibre strips. The back, with its intracity woven stitching, shows the amazing craftmanship used to create this rare adornment.
The Negbe was an important symbol of wealth and prestige and was worn only on ceremonial occasions.
