A solid and large Akan gold weight of a adze. The blade is slightly curved, with a large bundle of woven fibre binding the blade to the handle. At the base of the handle is a raised decorative band of woven fibre. The weight is heavy and solid with a surface patina reflecting a period of creation between the 17th/18th Century.
