A beautiful example of an Akan gold weight depicting a crocodile with its head slightly raised and a fish held in its mouth. The weight is finely detailed, with particular attention given to the crocodile’s body, including two sets of raised dots along its back. A small brass band is attached to its neck, which would have functioned as a counterweight, allowing the figure to balance correctly when measuring gold.
