This prestige staff is surmounted by a carved animal head. The head would have rested on the owner’s shoulders when the staff was carried.
This staff, zoomorphic in form, captures the presence of the animal, which appears to be a hunting dog with upright ears. The staff exhibits a dark, glossy surface patina where it has been handled.
