Kamba Elder's Small Prestige Stool, Kenya

£420 (H: 12cm)

Elder's Small Prestige Stool. Kamba Culture, Kenya

Carved with four slightly carved supporting legs this small prestige stool has a deep rich patina particularly on the surface of the seat. A hole features through each leg where a rope would have been threaded that would have acted as a handle to carry the stool. Such small stools would have been proudly carried and sat upon by male members of the Kamba culture as a sign of rank and importance.
