Late 19th Century Stool. Jimma Culture, Oromia Region, Ethiopia

Carved from a single piece of this wood, this stool features three elegant and beautifully curved legs. The form of each leg culminates in a point at the underside of the seat (one point is now missing).

As a result of use over time, the surface of the seat has developed an amazing rippled appearance.
