This striking piece is a visual statement of power, in which a male figure - likely the representation of a Yoruba ancestor figure - is shown riding on the back of a leopard.
The sculptor has beautifully captured distinct characteristics, from the pronounced, exaggerated position of the figure's large hands, to the prominent bridge of the figure's nose. Below, the leopard displays an almost startled expression, crouched on its hindquarters under the weight of its rider. Electric highlights of Reckitt's Blue feature throughout the sculpture, and a worn surface patina is present around the body of the figure, where the piece has been handled.
