The seat of slightly taller stool is supported two male figures and a female. The other lower stool, has two female figures and a male. Both stools are carved from the same hand with each figure showing a powerful presence.
Each stool has been carved from a solid heavy wood and both have developed a dark, smooth and glossy patina. The flat seats of each stool have been beautifully decorated with geometric designs.
Early glass bead strands decorate the necks of the three figures to the shorter wider stool, the stools appear to be of a similar period as these beads.
The stools possibly come from either the Nupe or Igbo of Nigeria, but this is not for certain.
