A beautifully decorated Tutsi wooden container. The surface has been decorated with fine zig-zag and cross-hatch decorations. The cone shaped lid has been attached to its base by a strip of leather. The inside wall of the base of the container has an old paper label attached, the rest of the surface has a dark and worn patina. Such containers were kept and displayed in a Tutsi household as a symbol of wealth as well as serving a functional purpose.
