Fashioned from the natural form of a tree branch, the head of the staff captures the character of a animal with long ears likely a wild rabbit or gazelle. Staffs like this were carried with the animal head resting on the shoulder by elders of the Hehe and Gogo cultures of central Tanzania. The staff has a deep and glossy patina.
