Prestige Staff with Gazelle Head. Hehe Culture, Tanzania

Finely fashioned from a tree branch, this Hehe prestige staff is beautifully zoomorphic in appearance. The beautifully carved head of a gazelle, with a pair of raised, alert eyes and inserted aluminium eyes, surmounts the notched body of the staff. Throughout, the staff exhibits a deep, worn surface patina.
