Rare Form of Stool (Possibly Lozi) Featuring Carved Mask or Face Details, Zambia

£580

Rare Form of Stool Featuring Mask or Face Details. Possibly Lozi Culture, Zambia

The stool is carved from a very dense heavy wood. The seat is supported by two V-shaped supports each feature a very unusual detail of a carved face or mask.

At this point the stool would have been held and carried, as a result each of these decorations has developed a deep lusty patina. Decorating around the edging of the seat are two rows of fine circle and dot decorations.

Estimated Period: Mid-20th Century (Or Before)
