Consisting of a low-set, rich and beautifully decorated circular seat supported by three finely carved legs, stools such as this would mainly have been used and kept by Kamba elders as a symbol of prestige and importance. An intricate, inlaid wirework design adorns the top of the seat, displaying a shimmering two-toned pattern of twisted copper and brass wires. Additional similar metalwork decorations also feature on the underside of the seat, displaying various geometric and bird motifs.
