Fine Zande stringed musical instrument. The soundbox consists of animal hide tightly stretched over a wooden base. The curved handle has been decorated with a carved female head and breasts with inserted white metal eyes (note, the head has not been added as a separate piece). The length of its surface is further decorated with scorched ‘X’ markings. At the base of the curved handle is a piece of metal which would have given extra support and tension to the instrument. The instrument is in good condition with some missing keys.
