Tall 1940's Stringed Instrument Featuring a Carved Long-Necked Head. Kaguru Culture,Tanzania

This is an unusually shaped tall stringed instrument coming from central Tanzania.

The body of the instrument, which has a lovely deep glossy patina, is surmounted with a head with long neck. The head has a prominent flat nose and white beaded eyes.
