A woven panel such as this would have adorned the walls of a traditional Mbole meeting house. Made from woven bark fibre, the panels have been decorated with striking geometric designs. The dark-coloured strands of fibre, used to create the bold abstract decorations against a pale background, have been dyed with the roots of the banana tree.
