A Zigua fetish figure depicting a monkey holding a fruit (probably a coconut) tightly to its chest. There is a fetish cavity at the top of the monkey's head and at the entrance of the coconut. The monkey’s hock-shaped raised hand, with a darkened shiny patina, is likely where the piece was traditionally held during rituals. Its long tail adjoins its lower bent leg.
A cleverly sculptured piece with a lot of character and presence, showing obvious signs of traditional use. The surface patina is oily and worn in parts.
