The combination of the type of dense, brown wood used to carve this headrest/stool, together with extensive use and handling over time, has resulted in an amazing worn, smooth surface patina. The headrest/stool exhibits an abstract, animal-like form with four supporting ‘legs’ and two V-shaped central lugs, which possibly represent cow udders. Two phallic-shaped extensions at either end of the headrest/stool give the impression of an animal’s head and tail.
